Entry to hospital remains restricted

Northeast Health Wangaratta welcome sign about the front entranceEntry to Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) remains restricted due to the ongoing risk of COVID-19.

While community restrictions have eased across regional Victoria, the standards required in a hospital setting have not changed.

NHW Interim CEO Fiona Shanks said the restrictions were in place to keep patients, staff and the community safe.

“Over the past few days we have had increased numbers of family and friends trying to visit loved ones in our hospital as many have assumed that visitor restrictions have eased,” she said.

“We understand the desire to see someone you care about but we’re not in a position to ease our visitor restrictions at this point.

“We are happy to accommodate and support patients to connect to loved ones via technology or other means and want to assure community members that their loved ones are receiving the highest quality care possible.”

Anyone planning to visit NHW should first check the website www.nhw.org.au/covid-19/ or call 5722 5111 to check if they qualify to enter the hospital.
