As part of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Embedded Student program, you’ll:
- study a Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine – Industry Practice) online with our partner RMIT University
- get support and hands on experience through an embedded student placement in one of our hospitals or facilities.

Who can join?
To join the program, you must:
- live in the Wangaratta region or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
- be enrolling in a Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine – Industry Practice) at RMIT University
- be a domestic student
- show proof you’ve had the vaccines you need to work with us to protect patients, staff and the community against vaccine preventable diseases.
We encourage First Nations peoples to consider joining the program.

We’ll consider your answers to the following questions as part of our selection process.
- What is nuclear medicine, and why are you interested in a career in Wangaratta as a nuclear medicine technologist?
- What subjects did you study in Year 12?
- What are some examples where you’ve shown your organisational skills, initiative and self-motivation?
- What do you understand person-centred care to be, as a widely recognised foundation to safe, high quality health care?
- Why is it important for health professionals to apply person-centred care in their practice?
We try to place all applicants but can only offer a limited number of places in the program.
If we can’t offer you a place in the program, we encourage you to become a nuclear medicine technologist by completing your university degree.
You’ll need to apply separately for entry to your degree course with RMIT University.
What happens next
We’ll review your application and may ask you to attend an interview. If you’re successful, we’ll give you a letter to support your place in the program. You’ll need to give this letter to RMIT University to confirm we’re supporting you as part of the program. Once RMIT University has assessed your application and accepted you into the course, we’ll contact you to arrange an orientation and induction.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist Embedded Student Scholarship
We offer scholarships to students completing the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Embedded Program. Our scholarship offers up to $15,000 per year to support you while you’re studying your degree, paid in four instalments over the calendar year. You may need to pay income tax on this financial support. It’s a good idea to get financial advice and to check with Centrelink about how this could affect your finances.
Who can apply
You can apply for a scholarship at the same time you are applying for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Embedded Student Program. You must be enrolled in full time study in the Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine – Industry Practice) with RMIT University.
To join the program, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident
- be a domestic student
- live in the Wangaratta region or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
show proof you’ve had the vaccines you need to work with us to protect patients, staff and the community against vaccine preventable diseases.
