We offer:

General Gynaecological Clinic
This clinic reviews referrals for individuals with abnormalities on imaging (e.g. ultrasound) that require further assessment and management. Provides care for general gynaecological concerns.

Colposcopy Clinic
For patients with abnormal cervical screening test results, abnormal bleeding, or related symptoms. Learn more about Colposcopy

Confidential and respectful consultation for complex contraceptive health needs. All options discussed with sensitivity to individual preferences.

Women’s Health GP

Northeast Health Wangaratta is proud to be partnering with Gateway Health, in conjunction with Department of Health, to offer a new Women’s Health GP service, aiming to bridge the gap in women’s health care

A specialist Women’s Health GP will see you and can help with a range of non-urgent gynaecological concerns including:

Heavy and/or painful periods
IUD procedure with Penthrox
Abortion
Perimenopause and menopause symptoms – not managed by your own GP

Any other women’s health or gynaecological problems.

Women aged over 18 can refer themselves to the Women’s Health GP service via contacting the above contact details.

Persistent Pelvic Pain service

A multidisciplinary clinic offering a holistic approach to managing persistent pelvic pain

Our clinic offers coordinated care involving gynaecologists, physiotherapy, nursing, Women’s Health GP to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

The clinic is for all women, and women assigned female at birth.

You will engage with our clinic or cycle of appointments, during which time you could see a range of medical and allied health professionals, such as gynaecologist, Women’s Health GP nurse, physiotherapist, dietitian, social worker.

We work with your own GP as part of your care team. Some services have age criteria and exclusion criteria.

Inclusion:

>18 years
Persistent pelvic pain >3 months with symptoms suggestive of pelvic floor muscle contribution
Persistent pelvic pain with symptoms >3 months duration impacting daily activities (e.g. school, sport, work, intimacy)
Vaginal pain/vulvodynia/vaginismus
Dyspareunia
Dyschezia
Readiness to engage with physiotherapy and explore self-management
Vulval conditions causing pelvic pain investigations have excluded urgent pathology that requires Category 1 urgent gynaecology assessment and management.

Exclusion:

Acute, severe pelvic or abdominal pain
We do not provide services for managing pelvic pain during pregnancy.
Individuals with endometriosis or pelvic pain that is well-managed.
Pt who already have an established multidisciplinary healthcare team via GP care.
Patients undergoing current cancer treatment.
Lower urinary tract symptoms (stress incontinence. urgency. voiding dysfunction, mixed urinary incontinence) without pelvic pain (refer to community health continence)
Bowel disorders (refer to community health continence)
Not wanting imminent fertility treatment or hysterectomy.
Pelvic organ prolapses without pain

How to access this clinic

To access the Women’s Health Clinics, you will need a referral from your GP or medical practitioner that is sent directly to our clinic, see here for referral information.

Once your referral is received it will be reviewed by the consulting team and categorised according to clinical urgency.

We will then notify you of the outcome of the specialist review, including your clinical urgency category and the expected waiting time for your appointment.

While every effort is made to provide the earliest possible appointment, priority is given to patients with the most urgent clinical needs.

We work closely with Gateway Health Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Hub – Clinic 35.

Clinic Funding

Our Women’s Health Clinic expansion services has been made possible through recent government funding. In April 2025, the Minister for Health and Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, announced Northeast Health Wangaratta as one of the 20 locations to open specialised women’s health clinics in Victoria.
Some eligibility criteria for services may apply.
While all services at Northeast Health are free, some out-of-pocket fees may apply for referred services.
