And Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) employee Tracey McGeehan features in one of the films.

Four short films will be shown at Soundfair’s Unheard Stories film festival at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, 17 August at 4pm.

Tracey is in “Amplify This”, which focuses on lived experiences of people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

In her role as a Disability Support Officer, Tracey supports patients and staff who identify as having a disability.

She said she encouraged community members interested in growing their understanding of deafness to attend the film festival.

“These are great films, and include a winner at the Cannes Film Festival 2021 (We Hear You),” Tracey said.

“As well as the films there will be an opportunity to ask a panel questions on the night.”

Unheard Stories is sponsored by NHW, Hearing Australia and Northeast Earcare.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Soundfair, a not-for-profit organisation committed to hearing equality.

There will also be an Auslan interpreter available on the night and films will have closed captions.

Tickets are just $5.50 per person and can be purchased at www.soundfair.org.au/unheard-stories.
