Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is proud to announce the completion of its new staff accommodation project, delivering nine modern housing units to support the recruitment and retention of healthcare workers across the region.
The project, delivered ahead of schedule, marks a significant milestone in NHW’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the local healthcare workforce and ensuring staff relocating to the region have access to safe, suitable and affordable accommodation.
NHW was thrilled to welcome the Minister for Regional Development Michaela Settle onsite to officially hand over the completed buildings, recognising the importance of the project in supporting regional healthcare delivery and workforce sustainability.
NHW Interim Chief Executive Officer Kim Bennetts said the additional accommodation would play an important role in attracting new staff and supporting employees transitioning into the region.
“NHW is delighted to secure these nine properties to support our recruitment and retention programs for key workers commencing with the organisation. Access to suitable accommodation will make a significant difference in attracting and supporting our workforce, particularly for staff relocating to the region, and further strengthens NHW’s commitment to building a sustainable workforce for our community.
We acknowledge Regional Development Victoria in supporting the needs of our Health Service and providing grant funding to support the delivery our units.”
The accommodation project forms part of NHW’s broader workforce strategy, helping address housing challenges often faced by healthcare workers moving to regional communities.
The newly completed units will provide high-quality accommodation options for essential staff commencing with NHW and contribute to long-term workforce stability across the health service.
NHW thanks Regional Development Victoria for its support and investment in delivering the project and strengthening healthcare services for the broader community.
