Northeast Health Wangaratta offers and supports a comprehensive range of post graduate opportunities for staff to continue studying and for career development. NHW is passionate about facilitating the professional development of our nursing staff. Undertaking post graduate study at NHW can support nurses to enter new specialty practice areas and to continue to develop skills and knowledge to facilitate professional development and growth. Post graduate study can also assist with career advancement and entrance into advanced practice roles.
Staff undertaking post graduate study and programs are supported and valued, and NHW has a number of programs, people and structures in place to support staff to return to study and to undertake these academic programs. The support includes clinical nurse/midwife educators and clinical support nurses/midwives in each area to provide guidance and assistance with knowledge acquisition, translation to practice and assessment completion.
Current work integrated post graduate programs on offer at NHW include:
- Midwifery (Graduate Diploma in Midwifery) in partnership with Latrobe University
- Critical Care (ED & ICU)
- Theatre (Perioperative)
- Acute Care (Medical and Surgical)
- Oncology (Cancer Nursing)
- Gerontology
- Paediatric
NHW has affiliation and partnerships with Latrobe University, University of Melbourne, Deakin University. There are courses available with many other universities to facilitate further study and professional development and theses are evaluated individually depending on learner interest.
Most of these programs commence in January-February each year but some have a mid-year intake and starting point that commences in July. Recruitment for most of these course and supported positions takes place in August-September each year. (Join our team – Northeast Health Wangaratta)
