Life Governorship is the most significant accolade awarded by the NHW Board of Directors, recognising the contribution of an individual that is deemed exceptional and beyond what would be considered normal for the position of service. This service or personal contribution is given willingly and freely and has significant benefit to the health service.

We are keen to gather more identifying information on our Life Governors. In days gone by, it was the done thing to list married women by the initial of their husband, for example. We’re now endeavouring to discover these women’s Christian names. We’re also wanting to use the Christian name of Life Governors who are currently listed by abbreviations. We’re also very keen to list the year each of our Life Governors received their life governorship, where this information is unknown.
