Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is investing in the future of healthcare for the local community, with almost $300,000 allocated to replace and upgrade vital biomedical equipment across key departments including ICU, Emergency, Maternity, Theatre and Palliative Care.
The investment ensures NHW continues to provide exceptional care with reliable, modern technology, supporting both patients and healthcare staff.
Kim Bennetts, Executive Director People and Corporate Operations at NHW, said the investment was about meeting the current and future needs of the Wangaratta community.
“Ensuring our clinical teams have access to reliable, up-to-date equipment that is critical for delivering the best care possible. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to patient safety, service quality, and supporting staff with the equipment they need to do their best work,” Ms Bennetts said.
Some of the replacement equipment includes:
- Cardiac observation monitors for the ICU
- Slit Lamp for eye examination for the Emergency Department
- Theatre equipment including an Electrosurgical Unit and Blood Warmer
- Electro Cardiograph Machine (ECG) for Surgical Ward
- Infant Resuscitation Cots, Jaundice Meter and Scales for Maternity/Special Care Nursery
- Breast Pump for Maternity
- Medical Ward High-Flow Humidifier
- Pain management infusion pumps for Palliative Care
NHW’s proactive replacement program ensures our health service continues to maintain high standards of care and minimises clinical risk associated with our assets.
The new equipment is expected to be in place by mid-2026 as part of NHW’s ongoing Medical Equipment asset renewal program.
