Breastfeeding is recognised as improving the health outcomes and wellbeing of you and your baby. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive (only) breastfeeding from birth to 6 months of age, with breastfeeding continuing alongside other foods, into the second year.
At Northeast Health, we encourage breastfeeding and support women to achieve their breastfeeding goals. Our Lactation Clinic is a free day-stay service for mothers and their babies (birth to 12 months) who require assistance with breastfeeding. Our qualified lactation consultants provide support and specialised breastfeeding advice in a relaxed and confidential atmosphere.
We also offer antenatal consultations to pregnant women with breastfeeding concerns or previous breastfeeding difficulties.

Referrals: You do not require a referral from a health professional to make the most of this wonderful service. However, you need to book an appointment coming to the clinic.
