On behalf of the Board of Directors of Northeast Health Wangaratta, Board Chair, Mr Jonathan Green, has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Ms Libby Fifis as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Libby’s appointment comes after a rigorous process conducted by the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Victorian Department of Health.
Libby will commence as CEO on 26 April 2022.
Libby is an experienced and well-respected Senior Health Executive who has held a wide variety of executive roles across regional and metropolitan Victoria in public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
With a nursing background, Libby previously held the position of Executive Director Clinical Services at Northeast Health Wangaratta (2016-2018) before taking on the role of CEO at Stawell Regional Health.
Most recently Libby has led the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee team as its General Manager and Director of Clinical Services.
With a passion for regional health equity, Libby is delighted to be returning to Northeast Health in the capacity of CEO.
The Board of Directors would especially like to acknowledge the exceptional leadership and great efforts of Acting CEO, Ms Robyn Gillis, who has guided the organisation since September 2021, through what have arguably been some of the most challenging months in NHW’s history. The Board, and the Community, owe Robyn a significant debt of gratitude for her leadership during this time of challenge. Robyn will continue as NHW’s Acting CEO until Libby commences on 26 April.
“I am really excited to be part of the next phase of NHW and privileged to have the opportunity to lead an incredible team of people who are clearly passionate about improving health outcomes in their local communities. I look forward to meeting with staff, patients and the broader community in my first few weeks to deepen my understanding of our challenges and opportunities in this important time of renewal.” Libby Fifis
“The Northeast Health Wangaratta Board of Directors are grateful and excited to have a CEO of Libby’s calibre appointed to lead the organisation. Libby comes to the CEO role with strong clinical and leadership skills, a deep knowledge of the Victorian public health system, and a solid track record of successfully meeting challenges presented her.
I thank our Acting CEO, Ms Robyn Gillis, for her outstanding leadership since September 2021, leading through arguably some of the most challenging months in NHW’s history, with the rise of COVID infections, Code Brown management, as well as managing our major capital works,” said Jonathan Green.
