Today we launched the much anticipated Well Ageing Info Hub, a new initiative that aims to improve information and system navigation support for older people in the Rural City of Wangaratta, through the provision of a one-stop shop for information on ageing-related services and supports.
The hub is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10.00am to 2.00pm and is staffed by specially trained NHW volunteers.
The Well Ageing Info Hub is stage one of the Well Ageing Vision and Engagement (WAVE) Project, a collaboration between NHW, La Trobe University’s John Richards Centre and DHHS.
Some 460 community members contributed their thoughts on what would make Wangaratta the place to ‘age well’. These details were consolidated into a plan to support Wangaratta’s older people. Four key areas are to be addressed; access to information, access to awareness and education, access to services and mobility across the Rural City.
However, the biggest recognition is with the fabulous Info Hub Volunteers who have come forward so enthusiastically to undertake training and be part of this new service for our community.
