The Northeast Health Breast and Gynaecological Cancer Service have been overwhelmed with the generosity of our staff, clients and community with activities and fundraising for Breast Awareness Month this year.
Throughout October, across the organisation and in the community, funds have been raised for numerous local and national clinical and research bodies that support Breast Cancer.
In particular, we’d like to recognise and thank:
NHW Medical Imaging
Funds raised at their Trivia Night last week will go toward providing individual support services as well as broader programs, education and resources to assist people with breast cancer in our community. On behalf of our clients, we are always grateful for NHW Medical Imaging’s ongoing support for our Breast and Gynaecological Cancer service.
Pink Ribbon Breakfast partners:
In partnership with Go Girls and Sassy Sister’s Support groups, Aroma Deli Café and NHW Breast and Gynaecological Cancer Service, the breakfast raised $1150. Inclusive of $1 from every coffee brewed, $2 from every breakfast served, raffle contributions and on-the-day donations, this money will be distributed between Breast Cancer Network Australia and the local Wellness and Life After Cancer education and exercise program. Many thanks to Tony and his staff at Aroma Deli for their generosity and efforts on this busy morning, for the generous donations to the raffle from community members and businesses and to the local support groups who organise this event.
NHW Surgical Ward:
Staff in Surgical Ward have raised funds and organised regular sessions through Smart Time in October for the breast care nurses to educate staff about breast cancer-related issues. This has been a fabulous initiative and increased breast awareness and breast cancer-related issues in the department.
Relay For Life:
The Cancer Council Victoria and local community members attended the annual ‘Relay For Life’ which supports all cancer types including breast and gynaecological cancer and raises funds for research, prevention and support services for people with cancer.
Again, thank you to anyone who attended any of these activities and supported people in our service with breast and gynaecological cancer.
With many thanks, Sally and Jodie
