I was delighted to have the opportunity to formally thank all our Volunteers at our annual Volunteers luncheon held at St Patrick’s hall on Wed 20th September. The special event was attended by Board Members, and a range of exec and senior staff who were wanting to express their gratitude for all our Volunteers do to support the environment of care at NHW.
It’s incredible to reflect that our 325 Volunteers have contributed approximately 33,800 hours to support patient care through NHW during the last year.
How very privileged we are to have this fabulous community support with our Volunteers contributing in so many diverse ways, a few examples include;
- The 36 members of Friends of the Hospital (FOTH) raised $67,036.17, with the funds enabling the purchase of a range of vital equipment.
- Our Meals On Wheels team delivered 19,760 meals
- Members of our Volunteer Team produced 23,864 Clinical Packs & folders, and 6001 Food Services Packs
- Volunteers were also involved in the Enhanced Environment trial in the Thomas Hogan Unit… this included restructuring their rostered hours and in some cases their roles to ensure the success of this project.
My thanks to our Manager of Volunteer Services, Kerryn Mitchell, for her coordination and support of this wonderful team…and thanks also to the Galen College students who did such a great job in catering for the event.
