On Friday 4th August NHW hosted a morning tea with a wonderful group of new mothers who had chosen to have their babies at NHW during the last year. The gathering was a celebration of the record number of births at NHW over the last 12 months – our staff delivered 675 babies in 2016/17 (609 in 2015/16). More importantly, valuable feedback was gained from the women regarding the care they received, their reflections about the positive aspects of their care, along with their ideas for possible improvements that could be made.
Maternity Services Nurse Unit Manager, Karen Oddie, along with a number of our midwives attended the informal feedback session, along with representatives of the NHW Board, the Community Advisory Committee, and other senior staff. NHW would like to extend their thanks to all the women and their beautiful babies for attending and sharing their experiences with us. A plan to improve our maternity services is being developed following the morning tea and this will be shared with all who attended. Further input will be welcomed to ensure we grow and develop our maternity services in direct partnership with our community.
