Northeast Health Wangaratta’s (NHW) newly commissioned Mobile Dental Van had it first excursion to the Mansfield “Do It” Festival. The festival promotes health, careers and different community services available in the area.
The Dental Van was there to help raise awareness of the new service it will provide to the region and people were encouraged to have a look inside the van and see the portable clinic for themselves.
Dentist Emily Pegan and Dental Assistant Tanya Hopper were on hand to answer questions and give information about the public dental service offered by NHW. Chris Thorne, who has been championing the van while it has been in development, was there and was excited by the future possibilities it will provide to people in rural areas.
The van will be able to deliver dental care to communities who would otherwise be unable to access such treatment. It is hoped the van will promote good oral health and habits to high risk groups in the north east region.
